My Background
My name is James Kurtz III; I am a graphic designer. I was born in 1980, grew up in the suburbs of Northeast Ohio and went to Hudson High School. In 2002 I obtained a BFA in graphic design from Ohio University. After graduating I returned to my hometown where I now live and work.
If I’m not working then you’re likely to find me either, spending time with my girlfriend, family, and friends; surfing the internet, or reading comics.
My Skills
I am able to meet strict deadlines and juggle projects as necessary. I am proficient in Mac OS X, Adobe CS3, QuarkXPress, Microsoft Office, art direction, drawing, photography, and painting. I have experience creating and developing package design; print ads and page layout; brand identity; web design; and retail concepts including point-of-purchase signage and plan-o-gram concepts for WalMart, Lowes, Little Tikes Toy Company, and Hoover Vacuums.
What to Expect from Others
Purchasing graphic design can be intimidating. Design firms and ad agencies are expensive, and you recieve little personal attention. Many designers are more concerned with their own aesthetic objectives than with communicating your message effectively. Many others call themselves designers simply because they know Photoshop.
What to Expect from Me
Work with me, and put your fears aside. There is only one of me, so you’ll get the most personal attention possible at a much lower cost than a firm or agency. Plus I am available to you at all times; I don’t close at 5! I concentrate on communicating YOUR message to YOUR demographic in YOUR voice. The design methods of my training and practice go beyond simply knowing the software; they are the most advanced and most time tested in the industry.
